Verizon’s Corporate Strategy team works with key stakeholders across the organization to develop long-term strategies, drive portfolio evolution, and increase shareholder value. Through rigorous analysis and a structured process, we answer critical questions for Verizon’s executive team, Board of Directors, and other Verizon stakeholders. With long term value creation at the center of the team's focus, this role will focus on projects for the board and executive leadership. Part of long term value creation will be portfolio optimization and analysis to help support where and how we allocate capital, scenario planning, industry analysis, and risk assessment. This role will also be tasked with ad hoc “internal consulting” projects.

This role:

  • Will be a catalyst to driving the strategy execution process and delivering senior leadership the information they need to make some of the company’s most pressing decisions

  • Will shape the future direction of Verizon through development and analysis on areas of strategic interest, focusing on long-term growth and key market uncertainties while leveraging structured analytical techniques

  • Will support cross-company initiatives to drive alignment and consensus across business units

What you’ll be doing…

  • Conducting in-depth qualitative and quantitative analyses on emerging trends and upcoming potential disruptions across the markets we play in, including making recommendations in uncertain and ambiguous situations

  • Demystify complex concepts and data in order to present clear information and narrative trends to executives, teams, and internal partners

  • Taking the lead in solving complex, strategic issues facing our business

  • Managing and fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners across the business

  • Developing quantitative models to assess the impacts various strategies and projects will have on Verizon's financials

  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to project manage strategic priorities

  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for senior management and Board presentations

  • Maintaining a strong understanding of the broader external landscape including consumer trends, competitor dynamics, customer evolution, etc

What we’re looking for…

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or six or more years of relevant work experience

  • Six or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • MBA or advanced degree in a quantitative field

  • Proven track record of presenting complex topics to senior executives

  • Understanding of M&A, Corporate Development or Business Transformation dynamics within telecom and tech

  • Demonstrated ability to develop, take over or strengthen business case models

  • Understanding of the telecom and technology landscape, the key players, and trends

  • Management consulting, investment banking, or internal strategy experience

  • Intellectual curiosity, excitement about the future of telecom and tech, self-starter, creative and innovative thinker, open-minded and never satisfied with the status quo, and a passion for excellence with attention to detail

  • Excellent research and quantitative analysis skills, including solving complex, ambiguous, and analytically challenging problems

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize information, frame issues strategically, and target the message based on the audience

  • Extreme organization skills and exceptional project management skills

  • Comfort with cross-functional leadership, working through others and at all levels of the organization

If Verizon and this role sound like a fit for you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every “even better” qualification listed above.
