What you’ll be doing...

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for implementation, maintenance and ongoing support for Verizon’s Network. You will act as a technical liaison to the Engineering, Planning and vendor organizations to ensure supportability and reliability of our services. You will develop resolutions to complex problems that require the frequent use of creativity. You will also be a Subject Matter Expert for the Network with responsibility to provide escalations and technical support as needed.

Automation Development & Implementation:

  • End-to-End Solution Design: Architect, develop, and deploy Python-based automation bots to streamline network repair processes.

  • Data Management: Manage backend databases and data connections, prioritizing data integrity and security.

  • Testing & Validation: Design and execute comprehensive test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures to optimize performance and minimize implementation time.

Technical Expertise & Collaboration:

  • Technical Leadership: Guide design decisions, technical approvals, and scope alignment for all release types within the application area.

  • Stakeholder Guidance: Conduct solution reviews and provide technical expertise to stakeholders and end-users.

  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Mentor junior engineers, cultivating a culture of continuous learning and knowledge exchange.

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a recognized subject matter expert (SME) within the Network Repair Bureau.

Quality Assurance & Issue Resolution:

  • Testing Program Development: Develop and implement robust testing programs to ensure the functionality and quality of newly developed processes, encompassing database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error/bug retests, and usability.

  • Release Validation & Defect Analysis: Validate test release criteria, perform thorough defect analysis, and spearhead debugging and troubleshooting initiatives to address deployment issues.

  • Standardization & Process Improvement: Develop and implement processes and standards for efficient issue review and resolution within the established framework.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Problem Identification & Documentation: Identify, analyze, and meticulously document issues related to program function, output, online screens, or content.

  • Usability Tracking & Reporting: Monitor usability goals and generate comprehensive reports for senior management, providing actionable insights.

Process Optimization & Innovation:

  • Product Design Leadership: Lead product design reviews to define functional requirements, product designs, and schedules, and anticipate potential challenges.

  • Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify opportunities to optimize existing processes and implement innovative solutions to enhance network repair operations.

  • Provide final approval for newly developed processes before implementation.

Data-Driven Network Solutions

  • Customer Issue Analysis: Leverage data analytics to understand customer issues reported to the NRB, examining network problems from multiple angles.

  • Rapid Solution Development: Quickly identify opportunities and develop effective solutions using Python and Kubernetes.

  • Advanced Scripting: Lead the creation of innovative and advanced coding scripts and automation environment architecture.

Software Development & Collaboration:

  • Full Stack Development: Build frameworks, design user interfaces, and integrate APIs. Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, from development and testing to production deployment.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with partners and IT team members to understand business requirements, driving the analysis and design of high-quality technical solutions.

  • Database Management: Develop SQL queries and manage databases effectively.

This hybrid role will have a defined work location that includes work from home and assigned office days as set by the manager.

What we’re looking for...

You’ll need to have::

  • Bachelor’s degree OR six or more years of relevant work experience.

  • Six or more years of relevant work experience in automation, specifically:

    • Troubleshooting hardware and software issues.

    • Monitoring systems.

    • Designing automation system architecture.

    • Building complex scripting solutions using Python.

    • Proven proficiency in Python for data manipulation, analysis, and automation tasks.

    • Experience working with Kubernetes.

Even Better If You Have:

  • Data Analysis & Insights: Proven ability to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets to drive informed decision-making.

  • API Data Aggregation: Expertise in collecting and integrating data from multiple sources using APIs.

  • Linux Systems: Strong understanding of Linux systems administration within an enterprise production environment.

  • Edge Computing & Virtualization: Experience with edge AI deployments and virtual machine management (VMB).

  • Scripting Languages: Familiarity with scripting languages such as R or Java for data analysis, automation, and reporting.

  • Data Management & Governance:

  • Data Warehousing: Understanding of data warehousing concepts, best practices, and implementation.

  • Data Governance: Knowledge of data governance principles and experience ensuring data security, privacy, and compliance.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.
