Description:

Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources Strategic Services, this position assists in the general oversight and implementation of campus and college policies and procedures for all human resource activities of the college. Processes all transaction types (CS, AP, Faculty), payroll functions and serves as a liaison between Business managers, Academic HR, Faculty Affairs HR, Employment, Extra Help, OIS and Benefits on behalf of the college and its units in coordinating the resolution of employment/employee related issues and concerns.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Advise the Director of HR Strategic Services regarding vital HR issues and assist with managing the centralized, college­ wide recruitment and search process, payroll processing, student application system and job description writing and approval process as well as provide generalist services to all Faculty, Staff, and Student employee in the CBA.
  • Review HRFE transactions, assist with the approval of biweekly timesheets, salary planner, payroll adjustments (ANA and Paris) overcompensation request, FMLA and SURS Disability requests retire/rehire requests, job changes. Ensure proper approvals are in place and procedures are followed such that the employees are paid in a timely and appropriate manner. Implement leave management record balance/accrual usage in Banner Pealeav and UIC Go Time.
  • Provide a thorough knowledge of academic and non-academic policies and procedures to assist the units in making a decision relative to their needs and advise department units on appointment options and communicate the contractual obligations to each of the involved parties. Guide department heads in the application of existing UIC policies and procedures, state and federal labor laws and development of internal policies and procedures to facilitate the needs of the organization without violating employee rights.
  • Serve as back-up to other college Human Resource staff on all HR and payroll functions. Act as liaison and college representative with Campus Human Resource, Faculty Affairs Human Resources, Payroll and Benefits, Office of Access and Equity, Office of International Services, Student Employment and other relevant offices on campus. Participate in college and campus wide committees and attend university human resource meetings.
  • Assist academic units with the annual Ethics Training for all Student Affairs employees and COCI reporting for Academic Professional employees.
  • Under direction, continually coordinate, plan, organize and develop new systems and policies and procedures to streamline the HR activities of the College.
  • Process VISA request for international faculty and visitors in collaboration with UIC Office of International Services. Oversees the student VISA process.
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Minimum Qualifications Required:

    1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Administration, Management, Organizational Administration, Public Administration, Labor Relations, Business Administration or a field closely related to the position.

    2. Five years of work experience performing professional-level human resources duties.
