Job Description Summary: | The GW Writing Center is one of three branches of the University Writing Program (UWP) at GWU, which also includes First-Year Writing and Writing in the Disciplines. The UWP offers courses to strengthen every GW student’s ability to write clearly and effectively at the university and in other arenas. The GW Writing Center offers free, peer-based support to students and faculty from across the university. Clients participate in one-on-one sessions with student consultants on their projects at all stages of the writing process. Our collaborative approach helps clients enhance their writing skills and become more effective editors of their own work. The Academic Department Administrator I reports to the University Writing Program Administrative Supervisor and works closely with the Writing Center Director to manage a staff of approximately fifty people, including graduate consultants, undergraduate consultants, and front-office assistants. Minimum Qualifications: | Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. |
