The Training and Surgical Research Specialist will assist the Sr Training and Surgical Research Specialist/Supervisor and Veterinary Services department in providing timely surgical and hands-on rodent training to researchers and animal care staff at Regeneron. They will also assist in keeping Regeneron inspection-ready by monitoring animal welfare, assist in maintaining complete and thorough training records and ensuring procedures and surgeries are being performed correctly and in alignment with IACUC protocols.
In this role, a typical day may include:
• Scheduling, coordinating and providing standard training sessions independently for handling and restraint, technical procedures, aseptic technique, surgical procedures, recovery, dehiscence/debridement, post-operative checks
• Conducting Post Approval Monitoring audits, verifications and proficiency assessments
• Documenting trainings properly
• Assisting with updating animal user lists in terms of new hires, staffing changes and training dates
• Assisting in creating, maintaining and correcting training documentation and records
• Assisting in ordering materials and supplies for training
• Assisting in researching and presenting novel trainings
• Providing input with guideline and SOP development and review
• Assist Veterinary Services as needed
This role may be for you if:

To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of an Associate degree in Veterinary Technology or a related field and at least of 3 years of laboratory animal experience, a minimum of 2 years of that experience with rodents. We are also looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years of previous exposure, experience and proficiency with rodent surgery, anesthesia, analgesia, euthanasia and necropsy. We need someone with or pursuing their LATG (SRS or surgical certification preferred.) You should be proficient in common blood collection and injection techniques. Knowledge of protocols, IACUC processes, post approval monitoring, database usage, policies and guidelines, state and federal regulations is a must.
