Vice President, Global Procurement - Direct

The Vice President, Global Procurement – Direct will provide strategic leadership and direction for the Direct category. The incumbent will be accountable for (and have experience in) establishing category strategy, developing plans to jointly drive value with business partners across Regeneron’s Manufacturing Industrial Operations & Product Supply (IOPS) Team, and other cross-organizational projects as assigned. This includes definition and assessment/strategies, contracting/budget negotiations, business related issue resolution and governance for all suppliers. This individual will report to the Senior Vice President of Global Procurement and work closely with the Global Procurement Leadership Team and executive stakeholders in IOPS and across Regeneron to achieve efficiency and maturity across assigned priorities. These priorities will include working closely with IOPS Leadership to define sourcing, secondary sourcing, external manufacturing, and manufacturing strategies. The role will be accountable for managing direct reports to drive short-term priorities in the Direct Category and the long-term vision to support business priorities.
This role is based onsite at Regeneron's Industrial Operations & Product Supply Center in New York's Capital District, - it is not open for remote work opportunities
In this role a typical day may include:
- Acts as an influential leader and partner with senior stakeholders – leveraging critical thinking, change management, strong business acumen, and deep experience driving global procurement fundamentals – to develop strategic improvements to achieve Regeneron priorities.
- Leads and/or participates in senior management discussions related to the Direct category, sets priorities for the Direct category aligned with key stakeholder priorities.
- Represents the SVP, and Global Procurement in driving key organizational decisions in the Direct Category with critical short and long-term impact on the success, efficiency, growth, and results of the organization and company.
- Leads critical negotiations, supplier management activities, and stakeholder engagement for the Direct Category and/or participates in company-wide projects representing supplier, sourcing, contracting, and supplier management activities.
- Leverage strong in-depth knowledge of efficient global procurement organizations and processes within the biopharmaceutical industry to support the growth and evolution of the Global Procurement organization and to drive improvements within Regeneron that align with corporate priorities.
- Leading the development, retention, and recruiting of Global Procurement talent to support the company’s growth, scalability and priorities.
- Acting as a role-model, while exhibiting leadership behaviors across an organization of direct reports who look to this role to provide a clear and understandable vision, and drive positive and productive change both within and outside of the organization – including senior executive leaders across Regeneron and our most critical suppliers.
- Operating with integrity, focus, clarity, and sound judgement in an environment of ambiguity to drive change and improvement for the Direct Category.
To be considered for this role you must possess:
- The role requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field of study. Additionally, an advanced degree and/or certification in a relevant field/function would be highly valuable to a potential candidate.
- A qualified applicant will likely have ~20 years of experience in relevant functions/industries, demonstrating growth in experience, scale, and development throughout.
- Experience successfully leading global teams, processes, and suppliers within a multi-national biopharmaceutical organization will be a critical enabler of success for the incumbent.
- The candidate should demonstrate success driving results in the Direct Category or related categories through effective stakeholder engagement.
- Provide expert insight and knowledge regarding rates, unit costs, and costing structures to enable optimal negotiations.
- Experience managing Director level professionals required.
