Oversees the formulation of sourcing strategies utilizing innovative procurement tools and methodologies to maximize leverage opportunities and savings for the corporation. Directs Category Managers within Strategic Supply, including the spend analysis, category portfolio prioritization, negotiation, sourcing, business plan development, and execution to meet all materials and/or services needs for key Exelon Business Units. Reports to the VP, Strategic Supply, and assists in setting Exelon-wide Supply Chain Management strategy. Directs Category Management activities and ensure alignment with strategy. Directs Supplier management and relations, standardization, process improvement, negotiations strategy, commodity strategy, and specific supply chain business planning, for all dedicated business units critical needs. Assures the strategic development and effective implementation of supply chain initiatives. Assures the focus and attainment of both Exelon's business goals and objectives. Develops and maintains an environment that promotes diversity, integrity and high productivity.


Primary Duties


Job Scope

  • Reports to The Vice President, Strategic Sourcing and identifies opportunities in the company's direct/indirect materials and services portfolio. Interfaces routinely with business units, has a high level of independent decision making while performing typical job duties. Directly oversees the activities of Category Managers. Actions could have significant impact on the cash flow and revenue stream of the company as well as impacting work management, supplier performance, system reliability, and customer satisfaction goals. Directly impacts shareholder value by developing strategies to reduce total cost of materials and services, which increases net income. Large impact on external constituencies due to interaction with strategic suppliers of major commodities.
  • Total Employees Managed: 10-17 direct, 1500 Supplier Resources, indirect oversight of cross organizational teams.
  • Operating Budget: ~$2M
  • Category Purchases Budget: Approximately $700M to 1 Billion.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, business, engineering, science or related field with a minimum of 12 years of experience In lieu of degree, 15-20 years of relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field is desirable.
  • At least 12 years of related experience, including at least 5 years as a supervisor or manager.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of supply chain management, strategic sourcing, negotiation techniques, inventory management techniques, contracting, and contract management.
  • Basic Knowledge of ERP Systems and the associated e-business tools, which enhance business process as they apply to the integration of supply management with work management.
  • Proven leadership ability in a high performance culture.
  • Proven high-level management skills in coaching and facilitating business competency.
  • Proven performance management skills.
  • Proven Change Management and Project Management Skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.
  • Travel on average 50% across Exelon sites and business units, as business needs dictate

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $155,200.00/Yr. – $213,400.00/Yr. plus an additional $50K in Long Term Incentive Plan annually
