Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Associate Research Scientist – Experimental Pathology Resource Laboratory.
The NYU Experimental Pathology Research Laboratory is a fee for service research laboratory operated by NYU Langone Health as a state of the art shared resource for biomedical researchers Staff develop and provide their knowledge and expertise to the NYU Langone Health NYU School of Medicine and larger NYU research community with a broad variety of histologic immunologic and imaging based research methods. They work closely with investigators to define optimal experimental design develop and maintain standards for all service procedures and troubleshooting and provide guidance in data management and analysis.
We seek an exceptional candidate to join the Experimental Pathology Resource Laboratory as an Associate Research Scientist to apply your skills and knowledge in the area of spatial biology. An innovative thinker capable of taking initiatives and working independently as well as in the team setting you enjoy working in a fast paced innovative and truly multi disciplinary environment. The primary responsibility of the Associate Research Scientist will be to innovate applying your skills and knowledge to optimize and evaluate new assays to enable spatially resolved genomics transcriptomics and multiplexed immunofluorescent characterization of biological samples. The ideal candidate will contribute contemporary histology practices microscopy and molecular biology techniques to a cross disciplinary research team facilitating the development of spatial profiling assays to address complex biological problems. You will acquire skills required for both tissue preparation and sectioning as well as multiplex immunofluorescence staining You will ensure the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and laboratory equipment and will train others in spatial genomic lab techniques. You will organize and carry out complex experimental work independently using multiple sample and databases to track experimental metadata.
The Experimental Pathology laboratory has multidisciplinary collaborations with over 70 different research groups. The role will require you to be adaptable and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with a range of personalities and varying degrees of knowledge about the underlying experiments. The ideal candidate will be open minded with a positive attitude adept at multitasking and capable of operating in a highly dynamic environment. Overall this position will allow you to add valuable new spatial bioanalysis technologies to your skillset and establish yourself as a valuable member of our team.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design and perform histological techniques for spatial bioresearch and participate in its experimental design supporting a broad array of programs.

- Ability to test implement and troubleshoot new techniques and protocols
- Excellent attention to detail and record keeping for sample and experimental tracking
- Provides guidance and training on newly incorporated instruments and training guides for users and staff for relevant instrumentation
- Analyze document and report high quality laboratory data in accordance with Experimental Pathology SOPs and NYU Research Data Management
- Maintain track and present in both written and oral form scientific research and developments in spatial biology and contribute/participate in peer reviewed manuscript submissions to scientific journals
- Reads and understands literature and maintains a thorough knowledge of relevant research fields through attendance at meetings
- Continually assess progress engages in critical thinking and demonstrates strong problem solving skills to deliver key data and interpretation essential for experimental results Explores research areas and technical strategies to define best approaches for investigators projects
- Effectively organize and communicate processes and experimental results in both oral and written formats
- Interface with vendors of tissue providing reagents/kits applicable for spatial biology and other multiplexed labeled samples
- Develop optimization conditions and SOPs for spatial analysis of tissue samples
- Implement wet bench and histology end point based method developments to expand this capability across diverse in vivo model systems and primary tissues
- Participates and performs all other related duties as required

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a MS degree with at least 1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or equivalent in a related area with 3-5 years experience in a research laboratory focused on assay development and data analysis.
- The candidate needs excellent organization and multi tasking skills and must be able to manage competing priorities with close attention to details.
- Excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills are critical.
- It is important that the candidate have an enthusiasm for learning and a genuine interest in translational research as well as the development and integration of new protocols and state of the art technologies into a research environment serving multiple investigators

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $42,900.00 – $77,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
