Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ophthalmic Technician.
In this role, the successful candidate Tests and measures eye function to assist Ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease: Tests patient s far acuity near acuity peripheral vision depth perception and color perception to assist Ophthalmologist to diagnose and treat eye disorders and disease Examines eye using slit lamp for abnormalities of cornea and anterior and posterior chambers Applies drops to anesthetize dilate or medicate eyes Measures intraocular pressure of eyes glaucoma test Tests patient s field of vision including central and peripheral vision for defects and charts test results on graph paper Measures axial length of eye using ultrasound equipment Performs other tests and measurements as requested by physician
Job Responsibilities:
- All Patient Correspondence including but not limited to: Disability Forms Patient Education Surgical Consent Forms
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Performs all aspects of visual acuity testing and Visual Field Testing
- Completes Medical History Lensometry Auto Refracting Pam Testing Glare Testing
- Slit Lamp Examinations
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or equivalent required Five 5 or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practice preferred Certified Ophthalmic Assistant COA from a Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel JCAHPO approved institutional course preferred or working towards obtaining certification
Preferred Qualifications:
Preferable 5 years experience in Retina Practice Certified Ophthalmic Assistant

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $45,916.00 – $60,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
