Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Licensed Practical Nurse – NYU Langone Medical Associates – Oakdale.
In this role, the successful candidate The FGP LPN will assist the RN in the care of patients and families by completing assigned patient care tasks in accordance with the NYS LPN scope of practice and NYULH policy In this role the FGP LPN will provide competent safe and compassionate care with emphasis on an understanding of the challenges faced by health maintenance illness hospitalization undergoing procedures or diagnostic testing The FGP LPN will check vital signs recording a patients medical history and utilize specialized skills and safety when carrying out specific tasks of patient care as assigned including phlebotomy point of care testing via finger stick with certification and electrocardiograms
Job Responsibilities:
bull; Participates in patient centered quality and performance improvement program consistent with service and departmental programs
bull; Acquires and maintains current LPN knowledge and competence to fulfill responsibilities
bull; Supports the missions philosophy standards goals and objectives of NYULH
bull; Collects patient healthcare data systematically and on an on going basis using appropriate assessment techniques and instruments
bull; Enforces adherence of NYULH and FGP policies and procedures and standards including but not limited to HIPAA Compliance Human Resources etc nbsp;
bull; Participates in coordination of unit activities to provide patient care in a healing humane and caring environment
bull; Engages in self assessment and participates in activities to promote own professional growth and development
bull; Obtains patient vital signs weights EKGs as needed Performs blood collection/phlebotomy as needed
bull; Administers medications including injections in accordance with NYULMC clinical guidelines and NYS Scope of Practice
bull; Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas Assists in escorting patients Ensure chart is available with relevant lab work and test reports if indicated for physician when the physician sees the patient
bull; Maintains an awareness of current patient centered evidence based practices and uses knowledge of applicable research data in provision of patient care
bull; Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and promotes collegial relationships
bull; Assists patients and communicates with licensed providers to obtain prescription renewals as needed
bull; Performs patient related functions as directed by the Licensed Provider and/or Registered Nurse RN and documents properly These may include the following as governed by LPN scope of practice: medication administration vaccination other injections and patch placement set up and/or assist for procedure
bull; Communicates directly with patients regarding their care or treatment using appropriate terminology and respectful manner Interacts with medical staff efficiently Interacts with support staff professionally nbsp;
bull; Serves as a support and resource for nursing staff and providers
bull; Demonstrates knowledge of the NYUMC Service Standards and incorporates into the performance of responsibilities
bull; Functions as a respectful member of the health care team
bull; Ensures clinical compliance with Patient Safety initiatives and reporting
bull; Ensures clinical in baskets are maintained and encounters are closed within a timely manner
bull; Considers needs and behaviors of specific patient age and cultural groups in all patient care activities
bull; Completes annual competencies such as Fire Safety Hazardous Waste Medsled HIPPA compliance etc nbsp;

bull; Partners with Patient Access Center and Central Billing Office team members to support collaboration and promote a positive patient experience
bull; Takes a proactive approach in ensuring that practice staff are fully versed in the Access Agreement gold standard principles
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Graduate of LPN program with current NYS OP LPN licensure and registration Ability to complete multiple tasks efficiently and thrive in a team work environment which pursues a positive patient care experience Physical stamina manual dexterity visual and aural acuity to perform responsibilities needed also required.
Required Licenses: LPN
Preferred Qualifications:
BLS certification preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,858.29 – $65,720.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
