Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Speech Language Pathologist, Clinical Fellowship.
In this role, the successful candidate under mentorship of an American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) certified and NYS state licensed Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), assesses, provides, and documents speech, language, dysphagia, and related services to both inpatient and outpatient populations across the age spectrum. Evaluates, re-evaluates, plans, and implements individual treatment plans tailored to meet the needs of each individual patient.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Performs evaluations, re-evaluations, treatments, and clientfamily education for speech, language, swallowing, and related disorders. Administers and interprets specialized testing as required for both the inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Ensures completion of patient records and other documentation according to federal, state, and hospital standards and regulations.
- Participates in patient care conferences, committees, orientation, community education projects, and in-service education. Communicates with physicians and other health care providers to offer coordinated and comprehensive care. Acts as a resource and advocate for those with communication and other related difficulties.
- Actively keeps abreast of and uses current trends and research based evidence in speech language pathology. Maintains and continues to build upon professional competency through education and annual review. Shares and conveys professional knowledge with hospital employees as appropriate.
- Participates in and conducts research as approved by the hospital Institutional review board (IRB) committee.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify, you must have a Master’s Degree Speech-Language Pathology. Candidate must meet New York State department of Education requirements to obtain NYS License, under Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship (CF). Candidate must meet the educational requirements for certification with NYS and for completing Clinical Fellowship (CF) under the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA). Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Strong communication (both oral and written), counseling, customer service, problem-solving, planning, organization, and multitasking skills. Specific clinical skills related to evaluating, testing, therapy and counseling for those with speech/ language, swallowing and related disorders. Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
Externship experience in speech language pathology in a medically related environment. Experience in communication, cognition, assistive, and augmentative communication disorders and dysphagia. Experience with Modified Barium Swallow Test (MBS) or Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing with Sensory Testing (FEEST) and ventilator dependent patients. Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office especially Word and Excel.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $48,682.22 – $73,721.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
