Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Data Associate.
The Research Data Associate will conduct community-based participant recruitment, enrollment, and data collection (qualitative and quantitative) within primarily Black and Latino/a communities where opioid use and opioid-related overdose rates are disproportionately high relative to other NYC neighborhoods. The RA will also assist with coordination of field data collection activities including participant reimbursements; case management, work with community and study partners, working off and on-site, but mostly in community spaces e.g., 2 study pharmacies located in Bronx, community harm reduction organizations, etc. This position is a part-time position (may have opportunity for full-time in the future).
Job Responsibilities:
- Recruitment and Data Collection
- Work closely with Research Coordinator, Pharmacy research personnel, and Principle Investigators to ensure successful study recruitment and enrollment, conduct and coordinate data collection (qualitative and quantitative), work with community and study partners, working off and on-site, but mostly in community spaces e.g., pharmacies, community harm reduction organizations, etc.
- Conduct community outreach as needed to help build partnerships between pharmacy research staff and community-based organizations.
- Follow through regularly with participants reminding them of visits and maintain detailed logs of all interactions with participants, including phone calls and outreach attempts.
- Support qualitative data coding process.
- Human Subjects’ Research, Compliance, and Study Regulation
- Strictly adhere to data privacy and confidentiality protocols.
- Handle all participant information securely and in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Adhere and promote adherence to all study protocols, on-site and in the field.
- Continuous Learning
- Complete ongoing compliance trainings and research trainings relevant to the position. Promote own professional growth and development in research role and maintain current expertise in area of practice.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate’s degree plus one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer literate with good interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, public health, health education or a related field. Prior experience in a health care settings and/or research level interviews
Prior patient education experience
Strong interest in advancing health equity and social justice
Ability to travel to NYC boroughs to collect data and facilitate study development and implementation.
Willing to work with minoritized communities including vulnerable, diverse populations with behavioral health/psychosocial needs in underserved communities.
Must possess a non-judgemental attitude and disposition in all spaces, i.e., with co-workers, study participants, and with all communities engaged during the study.
Ability to work with a diverse workplace where everyone is encouraged to respectfully share their voice.
Individuals with lived experience or a personal connection to mental health and substance use challenges are encouraged to apply. The ability to draw upon firsthand lived experience in this capacity is preferred.
Prior experience harm reduction work is preferred.
Demonstrated experience working with racially and ethnically diverse populations and/or with other underserved and minoritized populations, including people who use drugs, people who are unhoused, and people with mental health and trauma experiences preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $28.16 – $46.93 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
