Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.
The Center for Biomedical Imaging (CBI) at the Department of Radiology of the NYU Grossman School of Medicine is offering summer internships to undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups shown to be underrepresented in biomedical imaging research.
Biomedical imaging research (BIR) interns will work with an interdisciplinary group comprising research scientists, research faculty, postdoctoral fellows, clinicians, graduate students, and engineers. The internship offers a unique opportunity learn about state-of-the-art magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) and areas of current development followed by participation in ongoing research in these areas.
Job Responsibilities:
- Research and Development: Contribute to projects that target challeging problems in biomedical imaging. Potential projects range from development of new hardware for MRI, implementation of new sensors in the imaging environment, developing PET radiotracers for imaging studies, and working on radiochemistry units for evaluation of drug products
- Communication: Regularly meet and communicate status of the project, results, and findings with supervisors. Interact with senior researchers to develop an understanding of project needs and requirements.
- Presentation: Present results of your work at the end of summer to the CBI community. Summer projects may also contribute to ongoing research leading to publication.
- Adhere to compliance and departmental policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a The student intern must be a full-time student, or if working in the summer months (Mid-May through Mid-Sept), must be planning to return to full-time status in the fall.
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 2 years completed of a 4-year undergraduate program in physics, engineering, chemistry, or related area.
Interest in and passion for working on complex problems to improve healthcare.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively as a member of a research engineering team.
Strong programming skills are a plus.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $15.00 – $15.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
