Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director, Content Strategy & Development (Communications and Marketing).
In this role, the successful candidate NYU Langone Hospital (NYULH) is seeking a visionary, creative content leader to shape our Communications & Marketing (C&M) Department. In this high visibility role, you will develop and execute on the content strategy driving inspiring end-to-end storytelling for the institution. You will also oversee the MarTech C&M strategy in partnership with the Digital Team and create cutting-edge, engaging assets and content across channels in alignment with the institutional strategy. Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President of C&M, you will be an ELT-1 leader collaborating with leaders across the institution to design new creative and communication assets and identify ways to amplify those that are existing. You will protect and promote NYULHs brand and foster its growth through compelling storytelling that captivates audiences and drives meaningful engagement.
Job Responsibilities:
Content Strategy
- Develop and execute an innovative content strategy and vision, aligned to the brand strategy and institutional goals, to guide the end-to-end content supply chain supporting every C&M team member
- Shape the institution’s content agenda and take it to the next level by spearheading strategic initiatives, identifying emerging trends, and implementing innovative approaches to position the enterprise as a cutting-edge content powerhouse
- Enable brand awareness, engagement, and business growth through news, organic social, and digital communications platforms
- Ensure a cohesive and impactful content experience across all channels and platforms
- Understand the key audience segments, including profile audience data, that NYULH aims to influence and create content strategies and campaigns to reach them
- Partner with other C&M teams to present a single, cohesive, and coordinated voice of NYULH across internal and external content, channels, and audiences
- Represent and drive the C&M perspective on NYULH-wide patient experience initiatives, ensuring the end-to-end digital experience for patients is streamlined and intuitive
- Own the MarTech strategy, in collaboration with the Digital Team, and leverage the right technology to accelerate impact and advance C&M goals and priorities
Collaboration and Influence
- Serve as a partner and trusted advisor to the Executive Vice President of C&M and other members of the leadership team, aligning content initiatives with institutional priorities
- Partner with Brand Experience, Creative, & Design lead to create content and advance the goals of key partnerships
- Ensure that content is not created in a vacuum through collaborating with world renowned physicians, researchers, and key stakeholders to understand their work, and identify opportunities for new content
- Partner with other teams across the highly matrixed C&M department to foster collaboration and teamwork, and contribute to the overall C&M departmental strategy
In-House Production Studio
- Define the studio’s vision and strategic objectives in alignment with the brand
- Manage the development of creative and engaging assets across the institution
- Oversee the design and implementation of an Asset and Archive Management (“Content Hub”) approach
- Manage strategic partnerships with external agencies and production studios, leveraging expertise to enhance in-house capabilities, while ensuring the delivery of high-quality content
Content Development and Execution
- Oversee a consistent flow of high-quality content across all platforms and channels; ensure that content aligns with the brand, adheres to best practices, engages the target audience, and advances institutional goals
- Collaborate with the Program Measurement and Business Operations team to identify the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for measuring content strategy success and to enable data-driven continuous improvement
- Establish content governance processes, guidelines, and standards
- Ensure created owned, paid, and earned content is cohesive and aligned with brand strategy
People Management
- Lead the team to work in an integrated way to deliver high-impact, strategic work
- Provide development and mentorship opportunities; share content best practices
- Create and articulate a vision for the content team to ensure they understand their role in enabling the C&M strategy and NYULH’s institutional goals
- Direct the approach of how work gets done, and set priorities and standards
- Encourage creativity, out-of-the-box thinking, and a test and learn approach
Financial Management
- Oversee the Content team’s budget and finances
- Negotiate vendor, technology, and agency SOWs as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree required
10-15+ years of experience leading content strategy and storytelling for large organizations
Entrepreneurial mindset and proven ability to build teams and execute comprehensive strategies that drive innovation and align with organizational goals
Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence, teach, inspire, motivate, and collaborate
A passion for storytelling, creating, and meeting audiences where they are
Data-driven mindset that drives decision-making
Strong knowledge of digital marketing and MarTech capabilities
Experience managing, developing, and mentoring a large, diverse team and span of control
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience both in-house and at an agency developing content for a wide audience

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $201,393.92 – $287,706.12 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
