Duties Description Join our Region 5 Outreach Team and become an integral part of the Hiker Information Station Program and Mobile Education Center this summer. Your role as an educator is vital in protecting the Adirondack’s natural resources while enhancing the safety, experience, and wellbeing of our communities and visitors. Your base camp will be the Region 5 headquarters in Ray Brook, NY between Lake Placid and Saranac Lake, NY but your office will be the outdoors.

Responsibilities include:

-Engaging with new and experienced hikers at information stations or on the trail
-Educating on safe and sustainable hiking practices
-Collecting data to inform education and management strategies

Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in environmental education programs; or one year of college study with specialization in natural science, natural resources, or environmental education.

Additional Comments This is a seasonal, hourly appointment with an anticipated end date of 10/8/2025. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date.

Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.

Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
Weekends and holidays may be required.
