Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s (NYSED) Office of Facilities and Business Services is seeking candidates for a Cleaner (50%) position in the Education Building and Education Building Annex. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Sweep and mop restroom floors;
• Clean restroom fixtures and partitions;
• Maintain restroom supplies, custodial equipment, rooms, and allocated spaces;
• Clean break rooms;
• Knowledge of and adherence to the proper utilization of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and utilization of proper PPE appropriate while performing deleted tasks. Knowledge of MSDS system.
• Shovel snow if needed; and
• Perform other cleaning tasks as required.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor as well as understand and carry out written or oral instructions.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Candidates should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. The work schedule for this position includes hours of Monday through Friday (6:00PM – 10:00PM).

Employees of The New York State Education Department who are currently working either 50% or 100% in a cleaner position and are interested in this position MUST apply to the position as outlined in the Application section of this flyer.

This position leads to a maximum salary of $21,282 ($42,565 pro-rated to 50%) based on annual performance advances.
