Duties Description The Research Scientist 4 will serve as the programmatic and research lead for the Data Analysis and Research Translation (DART) unit in the Division of Epidemiology Evaluation and Partner Services (DEEP). The incumbent will direct activities related to the analysis, reporting, and dissemination of HIV surveillance data for New York State. The incumbent will participate in and oversee the development, implementation and conduct of all phases of research related to HIV surveillance, prevention and care, investigation and response as well as supporting the reporting, analysis, interpretation, and multiple modalities of data presentation needs related to the Governor’s priority Ending the Epidemic (ETE) initiative efforts. Responsibilities will include supervision of data preparation and analysis conducted by junior research staff, interpreting laboratory results, determining potential time, geography, and/or genetically related clusters of new/prevalent diagnoses, and compiling findings for dissemination in the form of reports, manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed journals, technical guidance documents, presentations and information for the DOH website.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a Biology, Public Health, Epidemiology, Infection Control, Statistics/Biostatistics, Biomedical Science, Environmental Health, Environmental Science and five years of professional post-degree research experience in the appropriate field; or a Master's Degree and four years of such experience; or a doctorate in the appropriate field and two years of such experience.
Preferred Qualifications: At least five years of experience with data collection, management, analysis, and reporting. At least five years of experience with SAS, SQL and/or other statistical software packages. Strong background in analyzing complex datasets and interpreting data analytic outputs to convey information to a variety of internal and external audiences. At least 3 years of supervisory experience. At least 3 years of experience with research and directing all aspects of research. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
