Duties Description Under the direction of the Trades Generalist at Rockland Lake State Park, the selected candidate’s duties will include, but not be limited to:
• Keep equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles and completing preventive maintenance such as tune-ups, oil changes, greasing, replacing brakes, and tire rotations.
• Assist in picking up parts as well as transporting and recovering disabled vehicles.
• Service snowplows, heavy equipment, and small engine equipment.
• Assist in repairing golf course equipment such as sharpening reels and mower blades.
• This position involves lifting up to 50lbs as well as reading and understanding service manuals.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned throughout the park.
• Adhere to the agency’s Code of Conduct Policy and ensure compliance with all guidelines, policies, and procedures in the performance of daily tasks.

Minimum Qualifications There are no minimum qualifications per Civil Service.

OPERATIONAL NEEDS:
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.
• Candidates must have at least 1 year of experience in motor equipment maintenance under a skilled journey-level position or equivalent education from an appropriate technical/trade school program.
• Knowledge of technical and mechanical procedures.
• Must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Welding experience preferred but not required.

Additional Comments This position has the option to join the NYS Employee’s Retirement System and is eligible for health insurance, dental and vision coverage. There is opportunity for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave after time & service requirements has been met.
