Duties Description The currently vacant SG9 Maintenance Assistant position at Mechanical Repair provides support to the existing G12 Trades Generalist along with direct services campus wide. Examples of the services that this position provides are performing scheduled maintenance and repairs on building, Athletics and other various mechanical systems campus wide. Specific examples of tasks; installing / removing banners, maintaining traffic control bollards and fences, operating and maintaining arena bleachers, resetting fire doors.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

Two years of experience in maintenance or mechanical work under the supervision of a skilled tradesman or completion of an appropriate two-year technical school course. Candidates are expected to be qualified to use negative pressure respirators. NYS driver’s license.

Operating Needs:

Ability to take direction and operate within a team framework and or work independently to assist and perform semiskilled routine tasks in the maintenance and repair of a variety of mechanical and electromechanical systems. Ability to perform heavy lifting, basic metal fabrication; use oxyacetylene torch, welding, metal cutting saws, shears, breaks and punches. Ability to perform mechanical operations such as hydraulic hose repair and fluid level checking and lubricating and maintaining various motorized equipment. Ability to comprehend and execute written directions and service manual procedures and use of computers for recordkeeping and entering time and attendance. Ability to work at a maximum height of 35 feet with the use of aerial lifts. Willingness to be trained in areas of health and safety and to learn and improve upon work related skills.
