Duties Description Are you interested in starting a career with New York State? Do you enjoy work assignments that include typing and data entry? Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding positions are entry level positions that provide excellent opportunities for advancement and professional growth.

As an Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding, you will perform a wide variety of clerical and administrative support activities, including:
• Typing, proofreading, reviewing, and correcting correspondence and documents
• Transcribing hand-written materials
• Gathering data for charts, graphs, and tables
• Preparing routine reports

Minimum Qualifications Candidates from outside State service may be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (HELPS) program. There are no education or experience requirements for an Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding position, but candidates–must be able to read, write, and communicate in English and must pass a keyboarding test; 30 words per minute with at least 96% accuracy.

OR

Candidates can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Office Assistant 1 Keyboarding eligible list.

OR

Candidates from within State service may be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

This position is at Central New York Psychiatric Center's Bedford Hills Satellite Unit located on the grounds of Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in Westchester County.
