Senior Economist
A bachelor’s degree in economics or a bachelor’s degree including or supplemented by 18 semester credit hours in economics and an additional 6 credits from among the following course work areas: computer science, economics, econometrics, mathematics, operations research, research methods, or statistics; and two years of professional experience collecting, interpreting and analyzing economic information and data to prepare reports; and designing and evaluating long-term simulations and economic models.
a Juris Doctor, master's or higher degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.

70.4 TRANSFER QUALIFICATIONS: A NYS employee with at least one year of permanent, competitive service in a position allocated to salary grade 12 or higher and a passing score on the Professional Career Opportunities (PCO) Select and:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to initiate and maintain relationships across a diverse set of stakeholders
Duties Description STANDARD DUTIES:
The candidate will perform secure file transfers with our data sharing partners using Aspera MySend. Will keep records of all data exchanges, send billing information to Finance, and participate in the secure encryption and deletion of data files in accordance with policy. Will participate in the MOU negotiations between Counsel and the data sharing partners. Will develop and maintain the management reports used by DEWS and our local area partners. Will learn Cognos to develop and maintain the management reports. Will collect and compile data from participating agencies and help produce these annual reports. Will assist in the calculation of allocations and shares of federal workforce funds to local workforce development areas, duties include collecting the economic inputs throughout the year, entering into automated spreadsheets, calculation and stat checking. Assists in the estimation of New York State's share of Wagner Peyser and Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funding for the Division of Budget and the NYSDOL Finance office, as this will require data gathering, modeling and manual adjustments. The candidate will need to estimate all 50 states to determine New York shares. Will respond to ad hoc data requests as needed which involve querying our data sources using SQL. Assists with writing and stat checking special reports such as the annual Women in the Workforce Report.
