Minimum Qualifications Eight years of relevant experience* based on the focus of the position (e.g. law enforcement, information technology, computer science, training, education, business administration, etc.), one year of which must have included the supervision of staff or review and approval of staff work products.

Experience must include advanced-level knowledge/subject matter expertise in the area covered by the particular position being recruited.

*Substitutions: An associate degree in criminal justice, criminology, criminal justice research, criminal justice policy, psychology, sociology, public administration, statistics, information systems, police science, computer science, mathematics, statistical analysis, or information management may substitute for two years of experience; or a bachelor's degree in one of these fields may substitute for four years of experience; a master's or higher-level degree in one of these fields may substitute for one additional year of experience; and a certificate in crime analysis or GIS may substitute for one year of experience.

Duties Description Under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of the Office of Crime Analysis and Strategic Partnerships (OCASP), the incumbent of this position will be responsible for the ongoing growth and development of the Retail Theft Prevention Unit. Responsibilities include collaborating with retailers and law enforcement partners to create strategies to combat the rise in organized retail theft cases across the state. Specific duties include but are not limited to:
• Manage the staff and overall operations of the Retail Theft Prevention Unit;

• Assist the OCASP Deputy Commissioner in the development of a retail theft community of practice;

• Develop relationships with retailers through the community of practice;

• Represent the OCASP Deputy Commissioner/DCJS Commissioner when meeting with and presenting to retail trade groups (chambers of commerce, coalitions, retail councils, etc.);

• Work collaboratively with Department of State and Department of Tax & Finance regarding eligibility and tax credit to partner businesses;

• Conduct targeted outreach to specific partner businesses to discuss the program and information-sharing;

• Develop monthly performance stats/metrics;

• Research business information provided by the applicant retailers;

• Collaborate with the Crime Analysis Center (CAC) network as needed;

• Develop and manage the strategies guiding the Unit and pivot as necessary, as the program evolves and matures.

Additional Comments Up to 20% travel may be required for this position.
