Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
• A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, information assurance, or related field.
OR
• A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology.
OR
• 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or related field, and one year of professional experience in information technology.
OR
• Two years of professional experience in information technology or cybersecurity.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong understanding of security frameworks such as NIST,
PCI-DSS, and CIS Controls
• Strong Excel Skills
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to identify, assess,
and prioritize security risks
• Effective communication skills to articulate technical
concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Information Technology certificate(s) such as Security+,
Network+, GSEC, etc.
• Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably
in the public sector or government agencies
Duties Description As a Cybersecurity Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of DMV’s cybersecurity protocols and practices. This role will be crucial in identifying vulnerabilities, assessing risks, and recommending mitigation strategies to enhance our cyber resilience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform thorough cybersecurity assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and identify potential weaknesses.
• Analyze security policies, procedures, and systems to ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement remediation plans based on audit findings.
• Conduct regular reviews of access controls, network configurations, and data protection mechanisms.
• Prepare detailed reports outlining findings, recommendations, and action plans for management review.
• Stay informed of emerging cyber threats, trends, and best practices.
• Support incident response activities by helping to investigate and mitigate security incidents as needed.
• Engage in ongoing training and development to continuously improve cybersecurity skills and knowledge.
Additional Comments Hours of the position will be discussed at the time of interview, including questions regarding Flextime, AWS/Compressed Workweek, and Telecommuting.
