Portfolio Technical Interface Manager
National Grid
About the role
This is the time for action – we need to move at pace and reform our energy system – to deliver energy security, to tackle climate change and to protect our people.
To transform the UK’s energy landscape…
As owners of Wales and England’s electricity transmission network we are dedicated to achieving Net Zero. In order to make the transition to clean energy we need the right people to help.
We’re looking for a Portfolio Technical Interface Manager to manage multiple interfaces between our Onshore projects, our internal and external technical stakeholders and lead on the development and delivery of the processes required to do so.
This is a job for someone who likes fast-paced environments and is excited by the challenge of delivering major infrastructure work within short timescales and a complex system. Someone who wants to make a difference to Net Zero.
You’ll need to be a strategic leader who excels at delving into the detail and identifying potential risks or issues. You’ll be working within a complex environment and dealing with the multidisciplinary aspects of our transformational portfolio; if you’re looking to take on more responsibility, this is a unique opportunity.
You’ll be working in a trusting, highly collaborative and safe environment. You’ll be welcomed into a positive, inclusive organisation that aims to become one of the most diverse, equitable and inclusive companies of the 21st century.
You will be required to travel within the UK as part of your role.
About you

•Degree level education in a relevant discipline or relevant experience in major infrastructure planning and delivery.
•Extensive experience leading infrastructure projects and multi-disciplinary teams
Demonstrable experience managing technical interfaces with third parties on major projects
•Senior experience leading large, complex programs, fostering innovative, effective, and efficient operations.
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and influencing large teams and gaining support from operational groups.
•Proven experience in customer management and influencing partner organisations.
•Demonstrated experience in relationship management and driving commercial value through contracts.
•Experience in leading change and driving business improvement in complex organisations or programs.
•Proficiency in delivering complex commercial arrangements, including contract setup, negotiation, and management.
•Familiarity with National Grid's company values and commitment to developing leadership skills would be beneficial.
•Understanding of the procurement and regulatory environment in which National Grid operates is highly beneficial.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people of colour are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At National Grid, we’re committed to building a diverse, inclusive and authentic workplace for everyone. So if you’re excited about this role but your experience or qualifications don’t match the job description exactly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You might just be the right person for our growing business in this role or another one.
