About the role

National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of UK’s transition to our net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK.

We are currently recruiting a Lands Manager to develop the Lands Capability within National Grid Ventures, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to establish mature strategies and processes.

As a Lands Manager you will lead a team of Lands SMEs to achieve best in class delivery across our OHA portfolio. Embody the NG leadership values and demonstrate commitment to the Team Charter, Team Safety and Team Wellbeing.

If you have previous experience managing activities across different projects with other developers, can build strong relationships with delivery partners and development stakeholders with a good financial acumen we would love to hear from you!

In this role you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. You'll be flexible with travelling to offices and project sites as required.

Key Accountabilities

  • Own and manage mitigation plans for any risks, issues or off target delivery impacting Critical Path on any project. Ensuring high quality reporting and communications as standard.

  • Advance the teams technical capability by improving policies, strategies and processes across Lands and Consents to strengthen the delivery of projects and drive consistency across the portfolio.

  • Have an unwavering focus on stakeholder engagement ensuring National Grid Ventures reputation continues to be enhanced.

  • Communicate across multi discipline teams and within leadership channels to ensure Lands considerations and priorities are visible, widely understood and reported against.

  • Drive standardisation and transparency across the Lands portfolio in all areas, especially work planning, strategy definition, processes and policy.

  • Ensure standard governance processes are adhered to in the project and workstreams. Review and quality assure technical and reporting outputs from the Lands Team

  • Manage any non-performance and / or non-conformance issues to achieve a suitable resolution

  • Lead the team to deliver in accordance within the project budgets set and be accountable for financial controls and tracking of third party (delivery partners) spend across the OHA portfolio

  • Lead the team to proactively manage the contracts with our Delivery Partners to ensure performance is in accordance with the KPIs set.

About you

  • Proven work experience as a Lands Advisor or similar role; with current and comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, policies and guidance.

  • Proven track record of advising on Lands aspects of major infrastructure projects including CPO and DCO processes.

  • A passion for people development with excellent leadership and coaching skills.

  • High proficiency in corporate reporting, communications, and management.

What you'll get

A competitive salary between £60,000 - £70,000 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a job requirement car, a bonus of up to 15% of your salary for stretch performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
