National Grid

National Grid

warwick, uk
Posted on Wednesday, August 28, 2024

About the role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) owns and operates the high voltage electricity transmission system in England and Wales. Our role is key in enabling the net zero transition by providing the electricity infrastructure needed to meet the UK’s ambitious targets. This requires us to ensure we optimise across the requirements of a broad range of customers and stakeholders while also considering the socio-economic and environmental implications of everything we do.

As Senior Long-Term Outage Planner you’ll be part of our Network Operations and Intelligence (NOI) function. NOI is at the heart of the NGET business, providing end-to-end strategic, engineering and planning leadership to deliver strong business performance while delivering a safety conscious plan, meeting the needs of our customers and our sustainability commitments.

You’ll be responsible for owning a zone of the 10-year rolling plan which provides a forward-looking overview of all works required to meet NGET’s long term goals, de-risking it’s deliverability and meeting targets.

Completing planning activities for the strategic 10-year plan of outages, you’ll create deliverable work plans to establish delivery targets, liaising with internal stakeholders to understand planning inputs, investments and constraints.

You’ll consistently manage and re-optimise plans based on changes, engaging with different relevant stakeholders to ensure a smooth delivery, proactively resolving escalations where required.

We’re flexible on where you’re based, but we would like to see you at our offices in Warwick, ideally once or twice a week, and this can be combined with hybrid working from home. There will also be the need for site visits occasionally throughout the year.

What you'll need

We’re looking for someone with experience in a previous planning role, with a logical mind, who can demonstrate experience of schedule management, stakeholder management and earned value management.

You’ll be an excellent communicator with the ability to actively listen and articulate concepts and risks to a variety of audiences.

Patient and forward looking, with proven flexibility to adapt positively to significant change, you’ll be able to multi-task and prioritise workloads to tight deadlines. You will ideally have a degree or qualification in a STEM related subject.

What's in it for you?
