What this job involves
This role supports Meijer store maintenance by assisting technicians in the field while working closely with the POC Operations Manager to take on increased responsibilities. The position focuses on providing operational support, quality and safety guidance, driving continuous improvements, implementing cost-saving measures, and maintaining best practices. The role combines hands-on field training with administrative duties to ensure optimal team performance.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
- Providing administrative support to the Operations Manager including reporting and team communications
- Onboarding and training new technicians to follow proper procedures (Corrigo, Abukai, receipts management)
- Working directly in the field to enhance technician skills and reduce contractor expenses
- Conducting technician skill assessments to identify training opportunities in coordination with the Training Manager
- Performing on-the-spot safety checks and ensuring technicians maintain current UST certifications
- Managing preventive maintenance completion, verifying proper procedures are followed, and ensuring budget compliance
- Monitoring parts procurement to reduce costs by ensuring technicians utilize appropriate resources before ordering from vendors
- Supporting team performance to achieve key metrics (90% self-perform rate, 97% acknowledgment, 90% on-site response, 3.8+ store director surveys)
Desired experience and technical skills
Requirements:
- Strong communication skills to effectively liaise between technicians, operations manager, and clients
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
- Experience in technical training and staff development
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures and safety protocols
Preferred:
- Previous experience in retail maintenance or facilities management
- Training or supervisory background
- Knowledge of Corrigo and Abukai systems
- Understanding of preventive maintenance processes and budget management
- Experience with performance metrics tracking and improvement
