The Technical Writer collaborates with authors in creating high-quality program documentation, provides them with the necessary training, and develops and maintains customer-centered resources and templates.

Core Responsibilities:

Documentation Development and Standards:

  • Create and maintain comprehensive business-critical documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and technical guides while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies
  • Develop and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, taxonomies, and metadata frameworks across the program
  • Lead documentation review cycles and manage stakeholder feedback through established channels

Process Analysis and Improvement:

  • Analyze documentation inputs and workflows using structured methodologies to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risks
  • Apply analytical thinking to evaluate processes, propose data-driven solutions, and implement documentation best practices
  • Drive continuous improvement in documentation processes and methodologies through user research and effectiveness validation

Project Management and Collaboration

  • Manage multiple documentation projects while maintaining quality standards and meeting deadlines
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across all organizational levels to document, visualize, and optimize processes
  • Prioritize work based on customer impact, business needs, and strategic objectives

Leadership and Reporting

  • Mentor team members on technical writing best practices and documentation guidelines
  • Track and report on documentation metrics and project status
  • Lead initiatives to enhance documentation processes and systems

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Expert-level writing, editing, and proofreading abilities with strong attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in documentation and process mapping tools
  • Working knowledge of content management systems, version control platforms, and basic web technologies

Analytical and Process Skills:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities for complex, scientific problem-solving
  • Experience in process analysis, workflow optimization, and documentation streamlining
  • Ability to gather and analyze user requirements and feedback effectively

Business Acumen:

  • Understanding of business process improvement methodologies and industry compliance requirements
  • Ability to align documentation priorities with business objectives and track performance metrics

Personal Attributes:

  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels within a large organization
  • Adaptability and self-motivation with proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or related field
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical writing experience in a business environment
  • Relevant certifications in technical writing or process improvement methodologies (preferred)
