Role Purpose

The EMEA Account HSSE Lead will be responsible for implementing and managing HSSE for a medium sized portfolio of around 65 offices facilities predominantly in the UK with a further number across mainland Europe. The most important objective of this role will be ensuring that our employees and sub-contractors return home safely at the end of their working day.

The role will be based in the UK with good access to core client sites in In Chichester, London, Dublin and Norwich. There will be an expectation of being visible and able to react to client needs as well as ensure that site teams are supported with H&S.

The successful candidate must ensure that critical stakeholders, such as employees and clients, receive timely, relevant information and appropriate counsel for HSSE Matters. They must have an acute eye for HSSE risk and be able to foster as strong culture health and safety and deliver world class HSSE results, improved productivity and flawless execution.

As a member of the Workplace Management Global HSSE sitting within the EMEA HSSE Supervisory organizational team, this Hybrid role with 3 days office, 2 days home working with required proactive & reactive flexibility to travel across the region as and when required, will support the development of the JLL HSSE strategy and as the role reports directly to the Workplace Management UK & Ireland HSSE Cluster Lead/Group Accounts Business Partner

Day-to-day accountability is to the JLL EMEA Account Operations Director with regular reporting on HSSE performance across the account to the EMEA Account Leadership team.

Other key stakeholders include the accounts leads for regional Operations leads account leads, Engineering, Risk & Compliance, Finance, HR, Projects and Client Corporate Real Estate Team leads.

What this job involves

Performance

  • Implement Global HSSE standards and bring them to life for the ensuring effective operational relevance.

  • Manage and reduce operational risks across the account by providing guidance and advice on health and safety risk management at all levels.

  • Provide technical advice on relevant HSSE issues and communicate notifications of changes in legislation that will impact service delivery and/or client occupancy.

  • Ensure a continued working knowledge of relevant current legislation.

  • Identify improvement opportunities and support the account team in identifying practical cost-effective solutions and controls for HSSE risks.

  • Ensure building related risk assessments are in place in line with legal requirements and Client Global Risk Control Standards

  • Manage incident and accident investigations.

  • Organize, implement, and maintain an effective account HSSE communication plan.

  • Partaking in client related audits and engagements whether this be in person or remotely.

Leadership

  • Foster a Culture of Safety across the account.

  • Lead, manage and develop the account regional HSSE teams maintaining an appropriate structure to ensure operational HSSE management.

  • Support Regional workplace leads within EMEA in developing their approach to H&S across the 85 sites within that region.

  • Proactively develop and manage client relationships ensuring expected service levels are achieved.

  • Deliver an exceptional quality of service to the account, as reflected by client feedback.

  • Embed JLL WORKPLACE MANAGEMENT HSSE vertical requirements and meet client requirements and standards form a managing agent only account at present.

  • Establish effective relationships and work co-operatively with the Account Teams,) organizations, and 3rd party vendors.

  • Contribute to the WORKPLACE MANAGEME HSSE programme as part of the global HSSE leadership team.

  • Ensure 3rd party vendors maintain compliance with JLL WORKPLACE MANAGEMENT and HSSE Standards at all times.

Standards

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of JLL Global HSSE operational controls, (i.e., process, standards, procedures, and guidelines) ensuring compliance with HSSE obligations and JLL’s HSSE aspirations.

  • Drive the development of best practice HSSE training programs and resources.

  • Implement HSSE strategy and operating protocols for the safety performance of JLL’s contractors and supply chain vendors.

  • Oversee the successful delivery of HSSE regulatory responsibilities and best practices globally to secure regulatory compliance, including management of change related to new and revised legislation.

  • Oversee the successful management of assurance for the HSSE program, while supporting growth strategies related to Client, JLL and/or national and industry standards.

To apply you need to be / have:

The Candidate

Experience

  • A minimum 5 years HSSE management experience within Operational Management systems and working with corporate clients.

  • Appropriate recognized Professional HSSE qualifications and memberships

  • Management system development, implementation and auditing experience.

  • Deep understanding of the HSSE regulatory environment in major markets

  • Experience of implementing HSSE technology platforms and data management tools across multiple countries & regions.

  • Practical working knowledge of up-to-date tools and techniques within a real estate environment and management of risk across a complex multi-site property portfolio.

  • Significant practical experience of problem solving HSSE issues in a dynamic/diverse environment and implementation of risk control systems and processes.

  • An agile approach to leadership and stakeholder management – able to operate effectively in a matrix structure.

  • A strong orientation to goals and measurable results.

  • Excellent communication skills to appropriately coach and educate at all levels of the account.

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills in order to establish credibility with colleagues and senior management and to foster effective working relations with a wide range of senior internal, client and external contacts.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Internationally recognized HSSE Management systems.

  • Identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.

  • Strong cultural awareness: unwavering ethical standards; drives excellence and innately collaborative. Understands how to be effective operating across geographies and cultures.
