What this job involves: The Entry Level Maintenance Technician (Carpentry Focus) position is responsible for all maintenance and repair activities related to carpentry work. This role involves liaising with maintenance teams and customers to plan, estimate, organize, and schedule required works prior to execution. The position requires the use of a computer to document hours, materials and notes performed on work orders. Will train the right candidate for the position.
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Installing lab furniture and supporting lab furniture moves.
- Fabrication of lab furniture using ITEM material (training provided).
- Conducting maintenance on doors, windows, blinds, and office furniture.
- Hanging pictures, installing keyboard trays, and repairing office furniture systems.
- Carrying out general maintenance on various lab equipment
- Reviewing and prioritizing work order requests.
- Determining activities required for work order completion.
- Communicating with work order requesters.
- Completing all work safely.
- Coordinating with client representatives to understand their needs and schedule work. within negotiated downtime windows.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
Desired or preferred experience and technical skills:
- 1-3 years of experience in maintenance/operations of facilities or utilities with applicable skilled trade requirements a plus.
- Experience with planning and scheduling maintenance activities.
- Familiarity with lab furniture and laboratory spaces.
- Knowledge of general building and equipment maintenance.
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software.
- Experience in working with various materials and tools related to carpentry.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Carpentry skills (fabrication, installation, repair).
- Laboratory furniture installation and maintenance.
- General building maintenance and repair.
- Equipment inspection and preventative maintenance.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with all levels of the organization, outside contractors, and engineers.
- Physical ability to lift over 50lbs and move large objects.
- Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
