The Field Engineer works closely with the local Project Manager, Lead Field Engineer, and account teams to assist in all aspects of deploying and supporting Itron network hardware and related systems. Candidate must have the ability to work independently, troubleshoot IPv4 and IPv6 network problems, remediate radio frequency (RF) link issues, complete site surveys and coverage tests.
Required Skills & Experience:
Minimum 2 years work experience in a related wireless or networking field.
Degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science, military training, or equivalent work experience.
Strong background and experience with RF and wireless technologies. Demonstrated the ability to diagnose and troubleshoot various electronic and RF systems.
Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills; the ability to directly interface with customers and vendors; maintain a professional appearance; and work independently.
Must possess a valid driving license and clean driving record.
Work independently and multi-task with minimum supervision.
A strong understanding of RF and propagation theory as well as experience with RF test equipment and tools such as spectrum analyzers, power meters, sweep testers.
Understanding of TCP/IP and routing concepts.
Experience and knowledge of gas, water and electric utility meters and related technologies
Experience with GIS mapping software such as MapInfo
Experience with GPS and coordinate data
Experience with RF propagation software
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Strong PC skills with software such as, Excel, Word, and Power Point
Analytical problem-solving skills.
Travel: Daily travel within the region.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel small and medium sized components. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and to lift weight or exert force up to 50 pounds. This is a safety sensitive role.
