Role and Scope of Position:Review, plan, and coordinate land survey work activity within the assigned territory. Will lead and coordinate diverse survey activities of staff and field crews and vendors while providing expert advice to project teams. This individual will be considered the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and take the lead role on all survey tasks. The primary functions will be to review the work of team members along with all Vendor activity including preparing RFPs, hiring from the approved vendor list, scheduling/reviewing/approving all deliverables and approving invoices with an increased dollar level. In addition, the incumbent will regularly lead and direct and oversee the survey work of assigned support staff and vendor crews, providing direct oversight of vendor work and internal Eversource work. This individual will also attend project meetings, providing oversight on all Survey related tasks, proving to be an advocate for the department, providing the highest quality and integrity for daily tasks. The individual will also provide reports, budget projections as requested.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the coordination of all Survey related work within assigned territory by both internal employees and external vendors.
- Reviews all vendor work within the assigned territory, reviews and approves vendor invoices with an increased dollar level approval responsibility.
- Provides direction and training on Utility specific survey work to Vendors as required.
- Prepares RFPs, selects and hires Survey Vendor (from approved Vendor list), ensures all Vendor survey work is being performed within the scope of services, including budget and schedule.
- Reviews all Survey requests to determine the appropriate resources needed to complete the task efficiently.
- Acts as the point of contact for all internal and external customers.
- Provides survey related project status to the project teams or other business partners as required during all survey related phases.
- Performs calculations, research, field and office tasks to support the accurate location of company property boundaries and rights of way.
- Retains all required paperwork and Vendor deliverables to ensure recoverability if needed.
- Serves as a SME to peers and other business partners.
- Performs limited Real Estate functions including field investigations and reports.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Demonstrated high standard of professional technical competence.
- Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, techniques and latest instruments of land surveying.
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles and terminology relevant to the practice of land surveying including construction methods, engineering plans and specifications is a must.
- Thorough knowledge of safety rules.
- Knowledge of Land Surveying, mapping, legal documents and real estate terms, familiar with standard concepts and practices.
- Must have a basic understanding of property law.
- Knowledge of State statutes and regulations governing surveying and mapping including subdivision Land Court (MA only) and AUL areas.
- Must have a strong background in boundary surveying. Ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Ability to provide customer service that meets or exceeds company standards.
- Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects and other assignments at the same time.
- Must Demonstrate the ability to coordinate groups as well as to work independently.
- AutoCAD experience is required; experience with Civil 3D is preferred.
- Must have experience with Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS equipment and related software.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree om Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
- Minimum of five to eight years of progressive field and office experience associated with all aspects of land surveying.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Licensed Land Surveyor preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
