In this role within the Energy Efficiency Department at Eversource, you will be working with customers to reduce the energy and carbon footprint of new buildings and major renovation projects.
The Energy Efficiency Consultant position is responsible for implementing electric and natural gas energy efficiency and decarbonization programs by providing technical project management services and financial incentives to commercial new building and major renovation customers. In this position, you also will lead the development, promotion, and implementation of energy efficiency/decarbonization programs to meet established goals, and regularly interact with regulators and/or other non-utility stakeholders.
This position requires project management skills, communication skills, and technical knowledge of building energy systems. Through regular interactions with customers, energy efficiency contractors, building designers, and internal teammates from the Marketing, Engineering, Regulatory Compliance and Sales teams, you will focus on achieving Eversource’s energy and carbon savings goals to help the state meet its decarbonization objectives.
This is a hybrid role.
Essential Functions
- Provides direction to business partners, such as contracted vendors, and/or technical project expertise to customers and coordinates available resources specific to the procurement and installation of energy or carbon saving measures, strategies, and systems.
- Responsible for review and approval of complex projects/program elements, which require an understanding of extensive engineering analysis/calculations, implementation strategy for new technologies, or energy simulation modeling.
- Drives the integration of strategic activities between the customer, program administrators, advisory consultants and vendor/contractors.
- Coordinates the development of documents and plans necessary to meet compliance with regulatory filings and oversight of rate-payer funded Energy Efficiency programs.
- Provides guidance and support to junior Energy Efficiency Consultants. Trains internal and external market actors on energy efficiency program strategies, processes, and techniques.
- Drives and participates in the customer engagement process including assessment of resources, project management, facilitating technical assessment studies, conducting charrettes for long term customer planning and execution.
- Executes the budgeting, invoicing, evaluation, and tracking of expenses and energy savings of assigned offerings; contributes to the development of RFP's for contracted services.
- Demonstrates proactive thought leadership within vertical sector through developing and designing strategies / initiatives.
- Represents Eversource in local, regional and/or national energy efficiency/decarbonization conferences and/or stakeholder events (e.g. ACEEE, ASHRAE, ACI, and CEE).
Qualifications
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
- Requires fundamental knowledge of building energy efficiency and decarbonization technologies and strategies.
- Requires solid understanding of financial principals.
- Requires ability to use PC desktop applications (e.g., Microsoft Word and Excel).
- Requires excellent communication and project management skills.
Education:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in technical marketing, sales, construction management, engineering, architecture, energy efficiency or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience:
- Five (5) plus years of relevant experience in technical marketing, sales, construction management, engineering, architecture, or energy efficiency services.
- Experience and/or aptitude in customer service also desired.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM), PE, BPI, or HERs are preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $107,000 - $119,000 plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.
