Locations: Tilton, New Hampshire

Installs, tests, repairs, and maintains electrical transmission, generating, distribution and shop equipment of all types and voltage classes throughout the system. Performs more complex types of work without supervision and more complicated types of work under supervision.

Starting Rate of Pay: $43.95 per hour

Regular Duties:

· Installs electrical equipment of all voltage levels, such as power transformers, metering equipment, lighting arresters, station service equipment, circuit breakers, switches, regulators, bus work, motors, exciters, batteries, generators, contractors, and other associated electrical equipment.

· Wires and installs switchboards, related control equipment and remote-control equipment.

· Installs conduit and control cable. Terminates and splices underground and high voltage bus cables.

· Reads and interprets electrical elementary diagrams, wiring diagrams, complex equipment instruction books, electrical and electro-mechanical equipment drawings.

· Assists in the operational analysis, trouble analysis and repair on electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical equipment or all types and voltage classes.

· Assists in the operation and maintenance of all test equipment used including high potential test sets, Doble test sets, Cincinnati analyzer, combustible gas analyzer, ductor, and megger.

· Performs insulation quality tests on hydro generators, exciters and large horsepower motors, power transformers and vacuum breakers.

· Performs high voltage testing of bucket trucks and underground cables.

· Operates bucket trucks, corner mounts, traveling cranes and a variety of power-driven tools.

· Climbs and works on ladders and elevated structures.

· Assists operating personnel in becoming familiar with the proper operation of installed electrical equipment.

· Assists operating personnel with complicated switching and at times performs station and substation switching.

· Works with manufacturers, field service engineers and contractors.

· Performs the duties of lower rated jobs in the progression.

The applicant must also successfully complete the EEI CAST aptitude test.

Education:

Associate Degree in Industrial Electricity and/or the successful completion of a recognized apprentice program and 2 years of applicable experience, or equivalent in combined education and experience.

Experience:

Successful completion of on-the-job training of the System Electrician III, which normally takes 18 months or equivalent experience.

Required Skills:

Basic understanding of electrical theory. Mechanical aptitude; manual and finger dexterity; color distinction. The ability to: communicate effectively and follow instructions; use hand and power tools; operate basic electrical test equipment; climb and work on ladders and elevated structures.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Preferred Skills:

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite of programs. License(s)/Certificate(s): N.H. Class B Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements for Air Brakes, Hazardous Materials and Tank Vehicles required.
