Summary of Role:

An Electrical Senior Authorised Person (SAP) you will be a highly trained professional responsible for overseeing electrical safety within an organisation, specifically in Low-voltage systems. You will be designated to ensure that electrical work is conducted safely, according to regulations, and that operational procedures are followed.

Accountabilities:

  • Establish and maintain the permit office in accordance with the requirements of the Dalkia Electrical Safe Working Procedure
  • Manage project AP organisation, assign clear roles and responsibilities and develop an organisation chart
  • Ensure an effective Site-Specific Electrical Safety Plan is created, approved by the AE and implemented
  • Responsible for the assessment and issue of all site safety equipment and test equipment including Arc Flash PPE, Voltage Indicators, Proving Units etc.
  • Ensure compliance with the SSESP and take any appropriate corrective action
  • Responsible for ongoing energisation and the assessment of each local area prior to power on
  • Responsible for ensuring that AP’s have a full understanding of the layout/configuration of all panels and equipment and have received a familiarisation briefing prior to the energisation of the project
  • Conduct regular inspections to include a daily check of all energised switch rooms/risers as per site definitions
  • Ensure all reported incidents involving electrical systems and installations within the area of appointment are reported to the Authorising Engineer and HSE advisor and investigated
  • Liaise with Client and/or company management regarding operational safety, procedures and outages.
  • Provide technical support to project Authorised Persons for non-routine operations
  • Review and assess Company and sub-contractor RAMS for electrical work that involves energised equipment or panels

Other Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Managing and Authorising Electrical Work: They are responsible for granting authorization to work on electrical systems, ensuring all safety measures are followed.
  • Risk Assessment and Safety Procedures: The SAP is involved in assessing electrical risks, implementing safe working practices, and ensuring that appropriate protective measures are in place.
  • Supervision and Control: They supervise work on electrical systems, ensuring that personnel are competent, and that all tasks comply with safety standards.
  • Emergency Response: In case of electrical faults or accidents, the SAP has a crucial role in controlling the situation, ensuring safety, and coordinating emergency procedures.
  • Training and Competency: They are also responsible for ensuring that staff working on electrical systems are adequately trained and qualified.

Minimum Qualifications/ Experience:

one of the following:

  • Level 3 Installation Electrician Apprenticeship Standard (STO152)
  • An equivalent Electrical Installation Apprenticeship
  • Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (Insulation)
  • Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification (Installation)
  • ECS Gold Card

One of the following Skills Test:

  • AM2
  • FICA

One of the following:

  • Enrolment onto ILM Level 3 Certificate C&BE plus completion of Nuclear Unit
  • Confirmation of booking onto Nuclear Engineering Construction Supervisor (NECS)

One of the following:

  • LATSS
  • SSSTS OR SMSTS
  • IOSH Managing Safely

Additional Qualifications/ Experience:

  • Demonstrable work experience as a competent electrician on relevant construction projects with understanding of inspection & test process (C&G 2391 or equivalent) and preferably supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrable work experience as and SAP/AP .
  • Valid First Aid at work qualification (3 day) or Electrical Specific First Aid Training (1 day)
  • Qualification up to date with the current edition of the Wiring Regulations
  • Understanding of the Inspection, Testing, Verification, Certification and reporting procedures for the range of electrical work undertaken

  • Hinkley Point C Construction Site, Wick Moore Drove, Nr Bridgwater, Somerset, TA5 1UD
  • 11 /3 Day working Pattern.
