Role Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) across its entire lifecycle covering Investment Grade Audit (IGA), design, construction and measurement and verification (M&V). Supported by a multi-disciplinary team at the various stages of the process including Energy Engineers, M&E Designers, Construction Managers and M&V Analysts. The Senior Project Manager reports to the Regional Project Director.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Working with Principal Designer and Snr Project Engineer during design phase to ensure construction readiness, by inputting into RIBA stage workshops.
- Responsible for construction delivery, ensuring project is appropriately resourced in line with agreed project budget.
- Acting as the single point of contact with the client for all project related activities.
- Ownership and management of the project budget and P&L at each stage of the delivery to achieve the agreed targets, ensuring cash, cost control and billing management in line with company policies and procedures.
- Ensure programme milestones and internal and external delivery dates achieved at each stage of the project.
- Ensure Dalkia Energy Services’ procedures and governance is followed and the necessary approvals received before cost or savings commitments made with a client or third party.
- Management of the technical solutions, ensuring energy savings can be achieved without detriment to Dalkia Energy Services’ guarantee.
- Working closely with the Technical, Commercial and Procurement teams to ensure a fair and reasonable selection process for all procurement activities, in line with company policy and procedures.
- Ensure CDM compliance across the lifecycle of the project.
- Management of project O&Ms
- Proactively prepare for, and manage all project governance, including client steering group in conjunction with Snr Project Engineer, ensuring minutes are accurately recorded for the business and client.
- Complete monthly project health checks, reporting issues and ensuring their impact is understood by all stakeholders.
- Provide input and support to the Business Development Team as required
- Engage with the M&V team to ensure we have all necessary measurement in place and agreed with the client for the ongoing collation of M&V reporting.
- Manage handover and commissioning processes are in place and that they support the M&V and guarantee requirements.
- Be available to support the ongoing performance needs of the project, including site visits to investigate defects/low performance and attending client meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience
- APM Qualified, and active member of APM institute or equivalent – Preferred
- BSc or BEng in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering – Preferred
- Comprehensive understanding of energy and carbon reduction across large commercial and industrial sites, with knowledge of building fabric projects, especially within retrofit environments – Essential
- Experience of managing and leading project teams
- Commercially astute with proven construction management, ideally with knowledge of industry standard contracts such as NEC or JCT.
- Experience working with major Plant: Boilers, Chillers, Pressure vessels, Air Handling Plant, Steam and Water systems, Motors, BMS, LV systems, CHP, Renewable Power, Understanding of HV systems, On-site generation
- Experience of working on live operational sites, often with critical engineering systems where retention of resilience is required.
- Competency with Microsoft Office systems including Microsoft Word – including use for technical documentation, Microsoft Excel – including use for technical purposes, e.g. to determine component / sub-system performance requirements, model technical problems, statistical analyses, test records, etc. Microsoft Project – programming skills, and Engineering design software (Hevacomp, Cymap, IES)
- Organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, disciplined and commercially astute.
- Comfortable communicating with all levels of Senior Management and external stakeholders.
