Role Overview
As lead planner, you will oversee a planning team, with responsibility for coordinating and optimizing the schedules and resources, across a portfolio of projects. You will ensure efficient utilization of time, staff, and equipment to meet operational demands and objectives of each individual project.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Responsible for operational oversight of the planning team, ensuring individual planners are providing effective and adequate support to meet the operational demands and objectives of the projects they support.
- Provide full life-cycle planning support across multiple projects, from pre-construction to live delivery.
- Own the internal reporting and monthly reviews for the Planning process, ensuring key inputs and deliverables are met, and all output actions are recorded and tracked.
- Provide regular Time and Quality metrics for all projects in the delivery phase (pre and post contract), to Project Directors.
- Provide internal weekly progress updates on all aspects of the EPC Projects, including regular Time and Quality metrics for all projects in delivery phase, and key programme risks to the Projects Director.
- Ensure outputs to project diary and other updates to the Project Director and wider stakeholders, happen in a timely manner
- Support the preparation of all monthly Client reporting with the Project Manager (Project Boards and any other documentation as required).
- Develop and continuously review the planning process and strategy for Dalkia Energy Services, implementing key improvements as required.
- Visit sites and work closely with a range of stakeholders to ascertain conditions and constraints that should be considered, identifying alternative methodologies/sequences than can improve project delivery
- Develop cost loading and S curve reports with the team, to monitor ongoing progress of project activities.
- Support and develop the Planning team, identifying their individual specialised training needs to support their professional development, or improve specific business outcome
- Ownership of the Training Matrix as a tool to ensure compliance across the team.
Knowledge, Skills, Education & Experience
- Primavera P6 practitioner
- Experience using MS Project and or Asta Power Projects.
- Experience of working in a planning or scheduling role ideally within the Engineering or Construction sectors.
- Excellent IT skills including the ability to generate reports.
- A ‘can-do’, positive attitude to your work and to potential problems.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships in order to collaborate with all departments and stakeholders.
- Demonstrable planning and prioritisation skills.
