Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) Certificate and
- Nine (9) years of experience in human services, counseling, or social work and
- Three (3) years of prior supervisory experience
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience
- Must be a current accredited Veteran Service Officer at the time of application is required.

*Degrees awarded outside of the United States with the exception of those awarded in one of the United States territories and Canada, must be credentialed by the World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or a National Association of Credential Evaluation (NACES) member organization.
- Ability to interact with colleagues at all levels, build strong relationships, and achieve goals without direct control over resources.
- Ability to think strategically with short- and long-term goals in consideration.
- Ability to transform abstract ideas into discreet plans of action.
- Helps veterans, their survivors, and their dependents by representing them in Veterans' affairs, such as, medical assistance and care, home loans, insurance, community education, and counseling.
- Ability to manage professional and/or skilled support staff on a day-to-day basis.
- Ability to lead within the established objectives and make decisions regarding daily priorities and the application of technical/business processes for a work group or segment of a department.
- Ability to set overall direction and hold staff accountable for accomplishing work objectives by fostering positive relationships between employees, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Ability to use organizational and/or department objectives and goals to identify processes by which to meet those goals.

COAST GUARD MUST SUBMIT A CERTIFIED COPY OF THE MILITARY SEPARATION FROM EITHER THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (BEFORE 911) OR THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY (AFTER 911).
