PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The position will be within the Mobile Turbine/Rotating Department and is responsible for performing all general mechanical maintenance on power plant equipment. The Mobile Turbine/Rotating team supports a culture of continuous improvement by participating in training, reinforcing standards, reporting, and mitigating unsafe or undesirable conditions, and utilizing the corrective action program. This position regularly requires 80% travel.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Demonstrates strong maintenance skill on steam or gas turbines, turbine valves, reactor feed pump turbines (RFPT), terry turbines, various pumps, balance of plan (BOP) equipment in a safe and reliable manor using the correct tools, equipment such as rigging, fork trucks and cranes
- Perform maintenance and repair work on plant equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, fans, turbines, bearings, boilers, pipe systems, valves and limit torque operators. (disassembly, part repair or replacement, assembly) using sound technical decisions regarding maintenance on complex mechanical equipment.
- Perform assigned tasks in a safe and efficient manner at the direction of Maintenance Management.
- Ability to work on cross-functional teams on major projects while adhering to the conduct of maintenance and established maintenance standards and practices
- Execute work package when assigned to the level of training received.
- Coordinates activities with other plant personnel, work groups and vendors, including communicating with station departments involving the maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Uses, reviews and recommends revisions to procedures, prints, technical manuals and other documents as required as well as supporting development of written troubleshooting plans to analyze malfunctions of equipment and repair plans
- Interpret and understand power plant prints.
- Provide technical support to plant operations, maintenance staff and engineering to the level of training received.
- Perform alignment on Rotating equipment. Perform fitting and welding tasks when qualified.
- Perform verification checks on maintenance items covered in maintenance technician training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Maintenance Technician I
Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics OR • HS Diploma with minimum of 12 - 18 months of trade or technical experience in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experience
Successfully complete the training requirements and time in job requirements for the position including previously passing the MASS test
Level II starting salary $39.52 based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401k
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Maintenance Technician II
Associates Degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics with minimum of 18 months of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology OR • 3 – 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Tech I or equivalent years of experience with trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experience
Level III starting salary $47.90 based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401k
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS for Maintenance Technician III
Associate degree in Power Plant Technology, Engineering Technology, or Electronics with minimum of 3 years of trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology OR
• 5 years’ experience in Maintenance Tech II or equivalent years of experience with trade or technical training in Power Plant Technology or relevant field experience. Previous Foreman or supervisory experience
• Previous trade union experience (millwright or pipefitting)
• Welding qualifications
• Machinist experience.
