Expected salary range of $68,400 to $76,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The EIS Associate Chemist is multifold. It involves coordinating chemistry samples, reviewing data, monitoring performance, communicating with other departments, maintaining regulatory compliance, writing reports, participating in special projects, obtaining appropriate training, maintaining analytical and/or radiological instrumentation, maintaining quality control, and participating in special projects as assigned. This position operates under the direct guidance of the Technical Supervisor.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Ensure proper documentation of sample information is completed during sample collection, sample preparation, sample analysis, and data entry in a timely and accurate manner
  • Follow established procedures and processes to collect, prepare, and analyze radiological environmental monitoring samples and/or analytical samples such as PCB's, transformer oil, lubricating oil and fuel oil
  • Prepare standards, reagents, and quality control samples
  • Performs the following under the supervision: Prepare, review and evaluate analytical and/or radiological environmental monitoring sample data, quality control data and other chemistry data for accuracy and completeness and communicate to site management and others with respect to chemistry samples and issues.
  • Assist in the maintenance of chemistry instrumentation through routine maintenance, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate and provide feedback to the Technical Supervisor of: (a) team compliance regarding technical and safety standards and expectations (b)performance not meeting expectations (c) Opportunities for training and performance improvement (d) All other issues which can impact employees or technical results
  • Support emergent work as necessary
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, environmental, or similar field OR high school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years chemistry experience
  • Knowledgeable in analytical or radiological testing
  • Ability to gain unescorted access to nuclear facilities/plants
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as MS Word and Excel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

B. S. in Chemistry
