Expected salary range of $91,800 to $102,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Senior Contracts Analyst is a key member of the Constellation retail transactional legal team, with a responsibility for assisting the commercial team in matters involving the contract terms of its retail commodity business. This includes reviewing, drafting, negotiating, analyzing, and explaining Constellation’s standard retail commodity contract forms with a high level of autonomy. The Senior Contract Analysts also works cross-functionally on various projects and supports key relationships with the business and internal and external customers.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review, draft, negotiate, analyze, and discuss retail commodity contracts and other documents submitted for legal review, confidentiality agreements, and channel partner agreements on a real-time basis, with internal and external audiences.
- Interpret and explain contractual terms, rights and obligations to third parties, commercial teams and other functional groups.
- Work collaboratively and professionally on a cross-functional basis to update contract templates based on regulatory changes and the needs of the business.
- Represent the retail legal department at meetings to educate, explain, train, improve, and/or create new processes, as required.
- Assist with special projects and serve as primary contact for portions of legal work, both on an as-assigned basis.
- Execute on direction set by retail transactional attorneys and broader legal department leadership.
- Identify areas for process improvement and assist in developing best practices for contracting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience analyzing and negotiating contracts
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills, including experience with customer negotiations
- Experience with using language preapproved by counsel, as well as drafting contract language
- Strong critical thinking, issue spotting, interpersonal, and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail, high level of organization and initiative with the ability to organize workload, and ability to perform and prioritize in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of follow-through
- High level of proficiency with MS Word, including redlining features, as well proficiency in PowerPoint, Adobe and Outlook
- Strong risk assessment skills, with an ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- JD or paralegal degree/certificate
- Experience and knowledge of the energy industry
- Experience supporting a front office sales force
