Overview

The Senior Specialist will act as a liaison with The Learning Center (TLC) to coordinate various training programs. Key responsibilities include facilitating training-related process improvements, tracking career path training, processing promotional testing requests, assisting with onboarding new hires, and conducting monthly CDL reviews. The role also involves ensuring safety, health, and environmental program implementation, coordinating training schedules, improving training tracking and reporting, and analyzing training data. Additionally, the Senior Specialist will coordinate medical exams, issue training reports, support audits, and contribute to department goals, fostering a culture of safety, diversity, operational excellence, cost management, and customer experience enhancement.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between Substation Operations and The Learning Center (TLC) to plan, coordinate, schedule, reschedule and verify corporate, skills training, operator qualification, EH&S training, technical training, and career path development training.
  • Facilitate and/or support training-related process improvement projects for Substation Operations.
  • Track and monitor career path training to ensure that employees career development meets the criteria for progressing through their career path appropriately and process all promotional testing requests for Union employees.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new hires for Substation Operations, which includes but is not limited to scheduling SSO Orientation Day and setting up training sessions with The Learning Center Central Operations Advisor.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of employees CDL to ensure the information is in alignment with the Learning Management System and the Companys licensing monitoring system Embark.
  • Ensure implementation of Company safety, health and environmental programs.
  • Coordinate training programs for Substation Operations employees and where applicable work with Supervisors to reconcile shift schedules and operating issues with class schedules.
  • Maintain methods to improve tracking and reporting on all aspects of training including, but not limited to, scheduling training for employees, tracking compliance (e.g., mandatory licenses, certificates, EH&S training, Non-Classroom Training).
  • Attend and present training statistics at various SSO departmental meetings, as requested.
  • Review and analyze training data, recognize trends, and provide recommendations to customers to ensure training compliance.
  • Participate in the process of coordinating and scheduling SSO employees for their CMV DOT Medical (MED0002) and Annual Respirator Medical Exams (MED0001).
  • Issue Training reports to Substation Operations Vice President and Direct Reports.
  • Provide research information for audits and other investigations.
  • Play an active role in meeting department goals and performance measures.

  • Perform other related tasks and assignments for Substation Operations as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree and a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience or
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 3 years of relevant work experience or
  • Associate's Degree and a minimum 4 years of relevant work experience or
  • High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 5 years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Education/Experience

  • Master's Degree and a minimum 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum 3 years of relevant work experience.

Relevant Work Experience

  • Proficient technical use/knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel, required.
  • Solid technical proficiency in eTrain and Tableau, required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills, required.
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment and focus on providing good customer service, required.

Skills and Abilities

  • Develops and delivers effective presentations
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday

Additional Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed
