Overview

The selected candidate for the position must have a minimum of three years' experience in building trades and the ability to read schematic and engineering prints. The candidate must also have knowledge and skill in the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry and painting. In addition, the selected candidate must be able to successfully complete the necessary asbestos courses as quickly as possible. Experience in rotating equipment and mechanical repair is a plus. EPA universal certification, R410A Technician certification a plus. Candidate who obtains this position must qualify and advance through career path training to Mechanic A. The selected candidate must be capable of lifting 50lbs in weight and working in confined spaces. The candidate must be able to work at high elevations and in outdoor weather conditions. The selected candidate must also be able to perform extensive walking, standing, lifting and bending and must be medically qualified to wear a respirator. A valid driver's license is required.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Candidate must become proficient with use of work management system Maximo for time reporting and work order tracking.
  • Perform general maintenance of buildings.
  • Operates minor hand and power tools and performs general maintenance.
  • Performs basic lighting and wiring tasks.
  • Performs snow/ice removal with manual and powered snow/ice removal equipment and performs general maintenance.
  • Performs basic plumbing and pipe fitting tasks.
  • Performs basic carpentry tasks.
  • Performs basic troubleshooting on heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems.
  • General understanding of the basics of electrical, plumbing/mechanical diagrams, blueprints, maps, and schematics.
  • Performs basic PC based functions to access, retrieve, enter, and or verify job related information.
  • Candidate engages in tasks supporting the operation and maintenance of company facilities including but not limited to, warehouses, garages, office spaces, production environments, and associated outdoor spaces.
  • Candidate works constructively and collaboratively in a team environment, supporting a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED

Relevant Work Experience

  • 3-5 years Building trades and ability to read schematics and engineering prints Required
  • Less than 2 years Experience using electronic work management platforms such as Maximo for time entry and updates to work orders Preferred

Licenses And Certfications

  • Driver's License Required

Physical Demands

  • Ability to respond to system emergencies
  • Able to work in all weather conditions, i.e. excessive heat and/or cold
  • Perform extended driving through heavy traffic and severe off-road conditions
  • Perform heavy manual labor, i.e. push, pull, and lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to carry tools and materials when climbing ladders and scaffolds, and entering confined spaces
  • Ability to work in inclement weather and adverse conditions (i.e., excessive heat, cold, noise, confined spaces)
  • Ability to work with, and in, the vicinity of high voltage and/or other high-energy systems
  • Ability to be approved to wear and use either a full or half-face respirator, without facial hair or other conditions that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations
  • Stand, walk, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to use hand tools and operate heavy machinery, i.e. jackhammers
  • Wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), i.e. fire-retardant clothing and safety harnesses
  • Work with equipment with a manufacturer weight rating of 350lbs
  • Use equipment with a maximum weight rating of 375lbs when wearing and/or carrying 25lbs of clothing and equipment

Additional Physical Demands

  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
