The specialist will be responsible for ensuring accuracy of pension payments by reviewing calculations and reviewing how pension elections are recorded in the Employee Hub as well as in the Pension Calculator (SGS). Will also prepare pension estimates using SGS, as needed. The role will require the individual to run reports that are used as part of ongoing data quality checks of the integrity of SGS's data base The specialist will be responsible for formatting Excel data files to be sent to our actuary for annual actuarial valuations. The individual will assist in development of the annual cost of living adjustments (COLA) and quarterly Suspension of Benefits Notices. Other responsibilities will include peer checking the work of team members and support with our vendor billing.

Core Responsibilities
  • Review pension calculations for accuracy before they are provided to retiring or separated employees.
  • Review pension elections finalized by HR Assistance in the Employee Hub and in SGS.
  • Use SGS to prepare pension estimates, as needed, and assist employees who have questions on how to register for SGS Employee Self Service.
  • Maintain records of vendor billing to ensure fees are within budgeted scope.
  • Extract and format annual valuation Excel files for the actuary.
  • Preparation of quarterly suspension of benefits notices.
  • Assist with annual COLA calculations.
  • Research and respond to HR Service Requests.
  • Run and review periodic data quality reports for the Retirement and Thrift Savings Plans.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.
  • Ensure all PII related information are fully secured, safely locked and filed away.

Preferred Education/Experience

Relevant Work Experience
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills that will allow flexibility to manage a variety of tasks and meet deadlines. Required
  • Must have professional oral and written communication skills. Required

  • Proficiency in computer applications MS Office including Excel and Word. Required
  • Experience using Power Point. Required
