Job Description

The DSS Accountability Office (DSS-AO) is responsible for protecting the integrity of social services programs administered by the New York City Department of Social Services (DSS) and ensuring that DSS complies with all statutory, regulatory, and contractual standards. Within AO, Is the Office of Revenue. They house the Assistance Reimbursement Unit (ARU) is responsible for recovering Interim Assistance (IA) from Cash Assistance (CA) recipients who received certain CA benefits from HRA during the pendency of their Supplemental Security Income (SSI) application which ultimately leads to increased revenue for NYC.
The Assistance Reimbursement Unit (ARU) is recruiting for one (1) Principal Administrative Associate III to function as an Operation Supervisor who will:
- Directly and indirectly supervise ARU staff which consists of Clerical Associates, Eligibility Specialist, and Principal Administrative Associates involved in claim review and processing.
- Assign, evaluate and review completed cases by staff for accuracy. Review the information provided from the Social Security Administration.
- Monitor the staff’s Time and Leave. Conduct meetings/conferences about compliance with procedures related to Time & Leave. Review, investigate and resolve personnel issues of work productivity and/or
Time & Leave.
- Implement and interpret policies, procedures. Develop training materials, module assignments as well as conduct actual trainings for new staff and/ or provide refresher training to existing staff.
- Consult with the Director on overall problems and provide guidance to administrative staff on exceptional complex cases.
- Submit statistical data for special reports as needed. - Liaise with the Social Security Administration on any issues related to the claims or the use of the Government Service Online (GSO) application.
Salary Range: $66,062.00 - $75,971.00

PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC - 10124
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in "1" above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in "1" above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in "1" above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
- Working knowledge of HRA / AO systems, such as WMS, HRA Viewer, NYCWAY systems. - Excellent verbal, written, interpretive, and interpersonal communication skills with strong analytical and decision-making abilities. - Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint is preferred
