Job Description

THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE OFFERED A SALARY BETWEEN $62,868 - $72,298.

The Administration for Children’s Services (ACS) protects and promotes the safety and well-being of children and families through child welfare and juvenile justice services and community supports. ACS manages community-based supports and foster care services, and provides subsidized child care vouchers. ACS child protection staff respond to allegations of child maltreatment. In juvenile justice, ACS oversees detention, placement and programs for youth in the community.

The Division of Prevention Services (DPS) and its network of contracted providers deliver one of the largest and most diverse continuum of community-based child welfare prevention services in the nation and across New York City to improve safety, wellbeing, and permanency for thousands of families and children each year. DPS focuses on systems improvement, innovation, and strategy initiatives that require collaboration with major stakeholders to address urgent or emerging provider and family needs, city or state mandates, and high priority strategic goals of ACS leadership.

Within DPS, the Office of Program Management and Sustainability supports and oversees the network of prevention services providers through contract management and fidelity monitoring to ensure quality service delivery and positive outcomes for families. The Research and Innovation team manages cross-functional projects, including mixed methods research and policy, to inform the strategic direction of the division.

ACS is seeking an outstanding candidate to serve as a Program Associate supporting the Office of Program Management and Sustainability and the Research and Innovation team within DPS. Reporting to the Chief Policy and Research Officer, with latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the program associate will:

- Provide strategic administrative support to ensure seamless management of schedules, priorities, and communications channels.
- Prepare memoranda and other correspondence, reports, spreadsheets, presentations, and other materials to support the teams as needed.
- Organize and maintain team files and data using shared folders, Microsoft Office Suite, OneDrive, AirTable, as applicable and appropriate.
- Proofread/copyedit documents to ensure all external-facing materials meet established conventions.
- Facilitate meetings including developing agendas, distributing takeaways and coordinating next steps.
- Collaborate across teams within the Division of Prevention Services on key priority projects.
- Plan and manage events (virtually and in-person) with internal divisions and external community partners, including service providers, advocates, and families.
- Represent the Division of Prevention services in service provider, family, and advocate community convenings, workgroups, and meetings as assigned.
- Actively engage in the development of a strong workplace culture characterized by warmth, creativity, teamwork, and responsiveness
- Collect and track data as needed for projects, including surveys, site visits, feedback sessions, program data, and progress reports.
- Play an active role in strategic planning and coordination for division policies and programs and make recommendations on team policy and procedures; and
- Assist with other administrative initiatives, as needed

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.


Preferred Skills

- Excellent oral and written communication strong organizational and problem-solving skills - Highly collaborative with strong professional judgment and commitment to equity and social justice. - Knowledge of and/or experience with New York City’s human services systems, specifically child welfare a plus.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment.
