The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The NYPD strives to foster a safe and fair city by incorporating Neighborhood Policing into all facets of Department operations and solve the problems that create crime and disorder through an interdependent relationship between the people and its police, and by pioneering strategic innovation.
The School Safety Division is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the 1.1 million school children, faculty and visitor in over 1800 school in approximately 1400 Department of Education facilities citywide.
Staff Analysts perform professional work of varying degrees of difficulty and responsibility in the preparation and administration of agency budgets and the conduct of economic research and studies; in the preparation and conduct of administrative, procedural and operational studies and analyses concerning the agency's organization and operations; and in personnel administration; may supervise and train less experienced staff. Staff Analysts utilize computers in the performance of these duties. All Staff Analysts perform related work. Brooklyn North School Safety: 850 Grand Street, Brooklyn, NY 11218
Manhattan South School Safety: 123 Ridge Street, New York, NY 10002
Manhattan North School Safety: 122 Amsterdam Avenue, New York, NY 10023
Queens North School Safety: 28-11 Queens Plaza North, Long Island City, NY 11101
Bronx West School Safety: 500 E. Fordham Road, Bronx, NY 10458
Bronx East School Safety: 750 Baychester Avenue, Bronx, NY 10475
Staten Island School Safety: 715 Ocean Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
For current NYPD employees, this is open to Staff Analysts as a lateral opportunity only. Applicants' time and leave records, disciplinary records, and performance evaluations will be reviewed and taken into consideration. If selected, a Commanding Officer's recommendation is required prior to the transfer.

STAFF ANALYST - 12626
A master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; or
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory full- time professional experience working in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area.
An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above.
A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above.
A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma.
- Demonstrate strong accuracy and thoroughness in all aspects of daily work - Must be a team player with an energetic, positive disposition - Able to meet designated deadlines and work effectively in a pressurized environment - Must have computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe.
