Job Description

About the Office:
The Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) advises the Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Public Safety on criminal justice policy and is the mayor’s representative to the courts, district attorneys, defenders, and state criminal justice agencies, among others. The office designs, deploys and evaluates citywide strategies to drive down crime, reduce unnecessary arrests and incarceration, and improve the system’s fairness. MOCJ works with law enforcement and city agencies, non-profits, foundations, and others to implement data-driven strategies that address current crime conditions, prevent offending, and build the strong neighborhoods that ensure enduring safety.

About the Role:
The Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice executes its mandate through a diverse array of projects that span government agencies on the city, state and federal levels and may include non-profits, foundations, community groups and others. The office seeks a talented Technical Assistance Analyst to support the registration and maintenance of criminal justice contracts in the Strategic Interventions portfolio. Under the supervision of the Technical Assistance Manager the job responsibilities of theTechnical Assistance Analyst include, but are not limited to:
- Assist Technical Assistance Manager with vendor performance and site evaluations by creating assessment tools to monitor and evaluate compliance with fiscal and program requirements.
- Oversee integral parts of the contract procurement process such as the organization and implementation of Request for Proposals (RFPs).
- Develop, prepare and review mandatory documents and specifications for contracts in the registration process, and vendor responsiveness.
- Provide capacity-building support and assistance to, internal staff, contracted vendors and non-profit service providers.
- Communicate with vendors and providers to request required documents, and review submitted documents for completion and compliance with procurement rules and regulations
- Create and maintain a repository of all funding sources for contracts under the Strategic Interventions portfolio and assist in the development of fiscal certifications.
- Review, audit and process monthly performance invoices, which requires a comprehensive understanding of contract provisions to assure the propriety of a given invoice.
- Develop data informed assessments and recommendations to support decisions regarding future contracts/budgets

Minimum Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
