Job Description
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the city.
The Strategic Workforce Planning Intern will support the organizational delivery and maintenance of Strategic Workforce Planning initiatives for various organizational development programs, such as the Asylum Seekers Volunteer Initiative, Remote Work Pilot, and Utility Benchmarking Surveys. They will assist with workforce data review and compilation for the development of various periodic reports, including New Hire Orientation Reports, Exit Reports, and SWPEEWIC Metrics Reports, utilizing tools such as Microsoft (MS) Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS PowerBI. Additionally, they will contribute to the development and revision of standard operating procedures and process workflows using MS Word and MS Visio.
In addition, the interns will also support Engagement and Wellness/Internal Communications initiatives aimed at fostering an effective, high performing, engaged, and healthy workforce through activities like Employee Recognition Ceremonies and Employee Resource & Wellness Groups. Miscellaneous clerical duties will include recording meeting minutes, updating and organizing unit documents (both physical and on MS SharePoint), data entry, and filing. Furthermore, they will develop and update datasheets to effectively track programs and tasks.

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program in an accredited college, university or law school.
- Student must currently be enrolled at a college/university at the Graduate level, pursuing a degree in business or computer-related fields of study. - Student must have at least a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) Selection Criteria - Strong writing skills effective interpersonal skills familiarity and/or experience with computers/software. - Leadership skills - Self-motivation: and ability to work well with minimal supervision.
