Job Description
The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is seeking a dynamic and creative Community Coordinator to join the Neighborhood Opportunity Network (NeON) Photography Program. This position combines program coordination with social media and project management responsibilities, offering a unique opportunity to empower community members through art, storytelling, and digital engagement.
As a Community Coordinator, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the NeON Photography Program while also managing its social media presence and project time lines. Your role will be instrumental in fostering an inclusive, inspiring environment for participants while amplifying the program's reach and impact through strategic digital campaigns.
Program Coordination
Organize classes, photowalks, field trips, and community events to align with program goals.
Act as the primary point of contact for students and instructors regarding program-related inquiries or concerns.
Maintain accurate attendance records and submit weekly reports to the Program Director.
Social Media Management
Develop and execute a cohesive social media strategy across platforms like lnstagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
Create engaging content, including photography and videography, to showcase program activities and achievements.
Monitor social media trends and audience engagement metrics to refine strategies.
Respond to comments and messages promptly to foster community interaction.
Project Management
Coordinate with instructors, staff, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of program initiatives.
Track project timelines, deliverables, and milestones to ensure alignment with overall goals.
Collaborate with marketing teams or partners to amplify outreach efforts.
Safety & Communication
Prioritize safety during all program activities, ensuring clear communication protocols.
Serve as the first point of contact for emergencies or concerns, escalating issues to NeON staff or the Program Director as needed.
COMMUNITY COORDINATOR - 56058
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
Proven experience in social media management with a portfolio showcasing successful campaigns. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal communication skills for engaging diverse groups effectively. Familiarity with photography or creative arts is a plus but not required. Experience working with underserved communities or probation clients is highly desirable.
